Training for dog exhibitions

In order to participate to beauty expo's we have to prepare the dog in advance. In this type of competitions the exterior aspect of the dog is highly judged. It follows the classification of the breed typology to which the dog belongs, if it measures to standards. Depending on the results the owner gains rights to reproduce the dog in order to perpetuate the breed. Generally the judges make assessments and grand the right of reproduction only to those they think can improve the breed.

It must be said that a breed isn't characterized only by its looks but also by the way it behaves with other dogs, the level of sociability, psychical equilibrium being highly appreciated.

For example, during the evaluation, the judge takes account on the dog's sensitivity to human touch, the way it behaves with other dogs, the way it responds to teeth evaluation.

The quality of the representation of the dog in the ring depends on how it was trained, on what specific training it had. The difference between top ranking dogs and more inferior ranking ones is the way they were presented in the ring.

In order to have a successful presentation, the dog needs to be taught to walk in the ring at a specific speed, to stay in posture that will give the judge the opportunity to observe its bodylines, line of the head, to accept to be touched and be checked.

Any aggressive reaction can take to disqualification.

This type of training should be done with motivation factors for the dog, in order to make it develop a good attitude towards this type of activity. A well trained dog is like a card that is presented by the owner or the handler every time they participate in dog shows.
